Teacher Jan reluctantly gives up vacation time to accept the task of cleaning out her late uncle’s farmhouse. There she meets Kyle, who sat behind her in grade school and pulled her pigtails. Now he’s the hard hat man who will develop the farm into a mall, apartments and a pool. Her aunt's crying ghost warns her of danger. Developer Kyle wants only to complete his project to keep his business afloat. But someone is trying to stop his project. Why? The farmer next door, lawyer, real estate agent, and a historian are all suspects and complicate things. Dead bodies, sabotage, burglary and fires threaten their love and their very lives. They must work together and soon fall in love again. Can they solve the mystery?

Hard Hat Man is a well-written book with virtually no imperfections as far as grammar goes. With that being said, I felt that the book lacked depth and heart. I wasn't attached to the main characters and although the description made me feeling like it was going to be a very compelling read it fell short.I honestly think the character I found the most interesting was Jan's mom and she wasn't really a huge part of the story. Edna wrote her very well and I felt like I got a real taste for who she was.
Jan and Kyle however, our two main MC's didn't really do much for me. I thought their back-story was extremely sweet and laid a great foundation for something between them, but everything else seemed predictable.
The paranormal aspect wasn't developed as strongly as I would have liked and seemed like an afterthought to the story instead of a major plot point. I think the book has a lot of potential, but I would like to see the MC's flushed out more and their internal conflicts brought to light instead of just grazed over.
Edna Curry definitely has a strong ability to write, I think her story would benefit greatly from adding in an additional 40-60 pages of character development, more description and just those little things that make you swoon when reading.
From a reader/writer stand point I would definitely encourage her to keep on writing.

Hard Hat Man Edna Curry 9781512285130 Books Reviews
This really would have been a good novel had there not been so many inconsistencies & grammar issues. A good editor & more development of the plot would have made a huge difference.
This book was ok. I did not enjoy it as much as I thought that's would. It was just not the book for me.
I really enjoy anything written by Edna Curry! She's one of my favorite local authors!
